A YouTube channel by Life Regulation Lab

Mental health and neurodivergence, in plain language.

Anxiety, burnout, low mood, rejection sensitivity, alexithymia, ADHD, autism and late diagnosis. Why it happens, what it looks like in real life, and what actually helps. No hype, no blame.

Ever thought, “Why am I like this?”

Each video starts with something from ordinary life. The evening you can't get off the sofa. The message you read twenty times before sending. The tiredness that a weekend of sleep doesn't touch.

Then it explains what may be going on underneath, in plain words, and what tends to help. The aim is recognition first, then something practical you can use.

What the channel covers

Mental health first, with neurodivergence alongside it, because for many adults the two are tangled together.

Burnout and energy

Why rest doesn't always fix it, and what recovery can look like.

Anxiety and low mood

What they feel like from the inside, and what tends to help.

Rejection sensitivity

When a short reply lands like a door slammed shut.

Body signals

Alexithymia and interoception: when you can't tell hungry from anxious from tired.

ADHD and autism in adults

How they show up at work, at home and in relationships.

Late diagnosis and masking

What changes after a diagnosis in adulthood, and the cost of holding it together.

Telling similar things apart

Burnout or depression? Shutdown, meltdown or freeze? Tired, or something more? Some of the most useful questions are about telling one experience from another. That's a clinician's part of the job, and it gets its own videos.

Who writes it

Written by a UK-registered mental health nurse with over twenty years in inpatient services. I have ADHD, and I was diagnosed late, as an adult.
